Day 3 - Full of Gospel Opportunities

The recap of today will be somewhat brief, as it is already after 11PM. However, I do want to share some very wonderful things from today.

We began our day with studying Colossians 3:5-11. There were excellent discussions after this study about dying to sin and living for Christ. Praise God for His living Word. After the Colossians study we heard from Jon Kopp, and he defined the gospel. It was a fantastic sermon on what the gospel is and what it is not. It also helped reinforce how we must proclaim the gospel and what we must include when we proclaim the gospel. We are all very grateful for how the pastoral leaders of Gospel Grace are intentionally investing in us as we serve alongside of them!

We then ate lunch at a great local establishment (pictured below). Let me tell ya, it wasn't much to look at but it was fantastic! The team was a little bit unsure at first about this "taco truck" (which was really more like a mini taco trailer), but the food was amazing! Ryan and I even tried "cabeza" tacos (brain tacos). It definitely was an experience...we are telling ourselves that we are now smarter or something like that :)

The afternoon was spent passing out flyers about Gospel Grace Church in the neighborhoods. We have helped GCC pass out literally thousands of fliers. As the students have been hanging fliers on doors, they have had many opportunities to talk with people about Gospel Grace and Christ. Please pray that people will come to Gospel Grace this Sunday! We are asking God to do great things - please pray with us!

We ate dinner in the food court of City Creek Mall. The unique thing about City Creek Mall is that it is directly across from the Temple Square. So, the majority of people you interact with there are LDS. After dinner we did "gospel surveys" in this outdoor mall. All of the students went out in groups of two and approached total strangers, asking them for a few minutes of their time to do a survey. Many of them had clear opportunities to share the gospel! After about thirty minutes we were kicked out of the outdoor mall, but we praised God for the opportunities that we had.

Before the evening session, we went to "Beans & Brews," a coffee shop in SLC, for a team meeting. It was so precious to hear the team share about how they have grown in their love for Christ and their zeal to share the gospel. I wish you all could have been there! My heart was bursting with joy as I listened to them. Not only are they growing, but it is showing in their lives! Each one of them have had opportunities in the last few days to talk to unsaved people about Christ. Not only that, but they have loved it! They are praising Christ for the opportunities to share the gospel and they are eager for the next opportunity to talk about the Savior!

This eagerness was demonstrated by Philip upon leaving the coffee shop. As we were heading to the cars, he approached a middle age man who had been obviously watching our team. Philip told this man who we were and what we were doing, about that time I walked up. Philip and I ended up talking with this man for the next hour and forty-five minutes about the Bible and Jesus. Please pray for this man to come to Christ as Lord & Savior. He did not repent, but "how shall they hear without a preacher!" It was a sweet time to share the gospel with Philip!

There are not many pictures today - sorry. I will try to do better tomorrow. Most of our active ministry today was spent walking up and down streets. The students are being spent for Christ. They come back each night exhausted but overflowing with joy! Seriously, i
t is a wonderful thing to be a part of. Each day they wake up and ready to do it all over again.

As always - please pray for us! Tomorrow we will be doing more "surveys" with people around the city and we long to share the gospel with them. Pray for receptive hearts and clear speech as we proclaim Christ. Pray for God to work in mighty ways, both in us and through us! Thank you for partnering with us for the sake of Christ and His Church as we serve Him.

Grateful for the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ -

Justin - for the Salt Lake City STM team
